Transitioning from Leader to Advisor
A Sample Ceremony

It is often difficult for volunteers to move from a comfortable role to a new one.  It may be helpful to mark the transition from leader to advisor with a ceremony in addition to providing resources, training, and coaching for them.

Base the ceremony on the 4 key messages of STUDIO 2B.  Consider showing the "Welcome to STUDIO 2B" video or giving out the STUDIO 2B 10 points flier to provide everyone with a brief overview of the STUDIO 2B concepts.

As with any ceremony, keep it simple and meaningful.  Hold it at the end of a training session for new advisors or at a service unit meeting to recognize the new role the advisor is taking on.  You could also combine this transition ceremony with a rededication ceremony for other volunteers.  Consider using candle lighting as a way to emphasize each commitment statement the new advisors make.

Gather statements from girls about what Girl Scouting means to them in terms of Belong, Become, Believe, and Build to enrich the ceremony.

Consider concluding the ceremony by presenting the STUDIO 2B adult pin from NES.
