LEGEND OF THE
CHARTREUSE BUZZARDS The Chartreuse Buzzards made their appearance at the Innovative Training Workshop at Edit Macy National Center in August of 1974. First reaction was the disbelief but as the week progressed, the Chartreuse Buzzard became very important. "Sitting on a dead tree became a break from mind boggling training...then it became a symbol of friendship. As the buzzard spread its wings, friendships formed, smiles came to faces easier' laughter was heard along with "what A shame" and "REjoice" [.] Someone from the mid-west suggested that any time we meet again at regional, national or local events that the "dead tree" be the sign of friendship. Since part of the Magic of Macy is in returning to one's council and sharing what was learned in the INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF CHARTREUSE BUZZARDS was formed. International to represent all councils and the Canadian Girl Guides present. The patch is being sold with the profit going the Macy Alumni Fund, At both eastern and western regional conferences, the bird was sighted. Innovative? Fun? That's Girl Scouting. Tired of being green? Change to Chartreuse, but only for a little while....it might be just the lift one's spirit needs...it's easy to join...just sing along...and come under the wing of the friendly bird of scouting...THE CHARTREUSE BUZZARD. |
