LETTER HOME FROM CAMP
  What's wrong with this scenario?

Dear Mom and Dad:

We are having a great time at Girl Scout Camp Where-the-heck-r-wee. It is lots of fun. I almost didn't get to go because I lost my permission slip, but Mrs. Ohno figured since I was there with my sleeping bag, Mom must have said it was ok. Ten of the girls rode in Mrs. Ohno's station wagon, and eight of us got to ride in the back of Mr. Ohno's truck on top of all the camp stuff. Tell Susie's mom not to worry about the hospital bill, they are going to get the insurance reinstated on the truck. It has been real fun decorating her cast.

It was real dark when we got to camp, but Mr. Ohno built us a big, big fire before he went home. We were all unpacking when some sparks blew over on a pile of leaves and made another fire. Everybody started screaming and running and trying to find buckets to get water in. It took forever to put that fire out and Mrs. Ohno looked real upset. She said she was going to bed. I think she was mad because no other mothers would come with us on the trip. Did you know that tents burn up real fast? I think Marcie will look OK once her hair grows back.

When my two best friends and I got in our tent, we lit a candle and stayed up all night telling ghost stories and eating potato chips and candy. It was great fun, but we were sure tired the next day. There is a burn hole in my sleeping bag, but I think the the chewing gum covers it.

Mrs. Ohno took us on a long hike in the morning in the woods and we got off the trail somewhere and it took forever to find out way back to camp.  My friend, Mary, was wearing her bathing suit on the hike and now she has poison ivy everywhere. Don't worry they think the snake that bit me was not poisonous.

That night, we made another big fire to cook camper's stew. Mrs. Ohno said she had never cooked out before and looked worried, but the stew came out real good. My friend Mary was barefooted and stepped on a hot coal near the fire. That's when Mrs. Ohno discovered she had forgotten to bring any Band-Aids. I helped Mary wash her foot and we made a neat bandage out of her bandana just like it says in her Girl Scout book. Mrs. Ohno said we had earned the first aid badge because of that and the tourniquet we had to put on Jackie's leg after the unfortunate canoe accident. She didn't even get mad about the life jackets that we couldn't find.

We were too tired to wash dishes after dinner so everybody decided to just lick their bowls clean and put them away. On Sunday morning we ate breakfast and washed our dishes in the lake. Then Mr. Ohno came and helped us get our stuff back in the truck to go home. He was really tired so he decided one of us could drive and he would teach us. It was really fun!

I hope Mrs. Ohno will take us skiing and snowshoeing this winter, or maybe even a trip to a foreign country. She is a really good leader!

      Hugs and kisses OOOOO  XXXXX
