A Laboratory Assistant Prepared Solutions Of 0.8 M

, 0.6 M, 0.4 M, and 0.2 M sucrose, but forgot to label them. After realizing the error, the assistant randomly labeled the flasks containing these four unknown solutions as flask A, flask B, flask C, and flask D. Design an experiment, based on the principles of diffusion and osmosis, that the assistant could use to determine which of the flasks contains each of the four unknown solutions. Include in your answer _(a) a description of how you would set up and perform the experiment; _(b) the results you would expect from your experiment; and _ _(c) an explanation of those results based on the principles involved. _(Be sure to clearly state the principles addressed in your discussion.)_

A. To find the molarity of the solutions, I would set up an experiment using dialysis tubes and pure water. What I would do is fill the dialysis tubes up with pure water, then tying them off on both sides, then after weighing and recording the mass of each tube, I'd stick them in the cups with the solutions. Then, I'd leave them there overnight and come back in the morning and again weigh the mass of each tube. B. I would expect that the tubes would lose water when placed in the solutions. The percent change in mass would increase from the .2 M, to .4 M, to .6 M, and then to .8 M. C. Based on the principle of diffusion- movement from high to low concentration, the water will flow from the tube into the outside solution because

About the flashcard:

This flashcard is meant to be used for studying, quizzing and learning new information. Many scouting web questions are common questions that are typically seen in the classroom, for homework or on quizzes and tests. Flashcards vary depending on the topic, questions and age group. The cards are meant to be seen as a digital flashcard as they appear double sided, or rather hide the answer giving you the opportunity to think about the question at hand and answer it in your head or on a sheet before revealing the correct answer to yourself or studying partner. Some questions will include multiple choice options to show you the options involved and other questions will just have the questions and corrects answers. Simply reveal the answer when you are ready to check your work. Absolutely no cheating is acceptable.
