At the end of the cell at the synaps there are many neurotransmitters in the vesicles. The cell that will receive the message is loaded with dopamine receptors. The electrical impulse from the action potential triggers the sending cell to dump their contents into the synaptic cleft. then the dopamine receptors lock onto the receiving cell (the dendrites of the receiving cell) Then a second message molecule is released into the second neuron cell and that molecule triggers a neural impulse down the axon of the other cell.
