The Albany plan of Union failed because the colonies were afraid of losing their own autonomy or self government. The British also dropped the plan because they wanted to make the management of the colonies simple. What it meant for the creation of the united government in North America for the future was that it made the British impose new taxes and new regulations on trade. This angered the colonists who wanted to preserve something that the British had forgotten about somewhat and which had helped them economically.
