Yes the child has TB. While it may not be showing up in the sputum the child may be ingesting mucus from the nasal passage and TB being a mycobacterium can survive in stomach acid. Also a gastric washing requires a tube to go through the nose and down the back of the throat to the esophogus and stomach where TB microbes may be detected.
