A Druid can be of any race. A Druid can be a woman as well as a man.

Druids are a race of beings who worship nature above all else. They derive the source of their powers (be it spells or some other kind of magic) from the force of nature itself, or from a nature deity. Some druids prefer to pursue a mystic spirituality of transcendent union with nature rather than being devoted to a divine entity, on the other hand other druids choose to serve gods of wild nature, animals or the elemental forces. Usually the druids worship the gods in temples and shrines. Most of them are devoted to one of the many nature deities worshiped in the multiverse. The worship of these deities is often considered a more ancient tradition than the faiths of clerics and urbanized peoples. However, there is also the Old Faith (in the world of Greyhawk), which refers to the ancient druidic traditions. It claims many adherents among farmers, foresters, fishers, and others who live closely with nature. This tradition includes the worship of Nature as a primal force beyond personification.

Being worshippers of the nature and its elements, Druid spells are oriented toward nature and animals (in which you will find the power of tooth and claw, of sun and moon, of fire and storm). Druids also possess the peculiarity of being able to take on animal forms - some of them specialise in the study of this practice, so much so that sometimes they prefer their animal form rather than their original form. Druids believe that nature is based on a precarious balance system. This balance would be determined by the 4 elements that make up a world (air, water, fire and earth) and must remain in a perfect equilibrium. They believe that if an element gain power over the others, the world could be completely destroyed and be broken apart. Thus, druids oppose cults of Elemental Evil and others who promote one element to the exclusion of others. Moreover, the druids feel very concerned about the ecological balance of the world, be it animals or plants. They find it essential to live in harmony with nature and not in opposition to it. They also feel the need for civilized peoples to live in harmony with nature. Thus, they hate that which is unnatural, including aberrations (such as beholders and mind flayers) and undead (such as zombies and vampires). Druids can show violence against such creatures, especially when those are entering the druids’ territory. Druids are not fighters, but rather guardians. In fact, they give themselves the mission of guarding the sacred sites or watching over regions of unspoiled nature. However, when danger threatens the places or the precious balance they protect, the druids take on a more active role in combating the threat, as adventurers.
Druids are part of a society that spans the land and ignore political borders (even though their organization is invisible to most outsider). All druids are part of this 'druidic society'. However, some of them are so isolated that they have never seen a druid higher than they are, or even participated in a druid gathering.

Every druid recognizes and consider each other as brothers and sisters. However, they often compete with or even prey on each other.
At a local scale, druids are organized into circles that share certain perspectives on nature, balance, and the way of the druid. The different circles are: The Circle of Spores, of Dreams, of the Moon, of the Land, of the Shepherd.

Druidic is the secret language of druids. Druids can use it to leave hidden messages that only people who can speak and understand this language could spot.
