Proteins brake down into amino acids- the (-NH2) is removed by deamination and the amino group is converted to urea and excreted by the kidneys, the carbon chain then enters glycolysis or the Krebs cycle (proteins and glucose contain the same amount of energy 4kcal/g Fats : triglyceride = glycerol + 3 fatty acids, both oxidize as fuel, Glycerol enters glycolysis and fatty acids brake down to acetyl-CoA by B-oxidation, then enters the Krebs cycle. ( Fatty acids produce 9kcal/g when oxidized)
