A) Divided government is when one party controls the White House and another party controls one or both houses of Congress. Divided government leads to a slowed down confirmation process. It takes much longer for the government to get anything done. Since the government takes longer to get stuff done or is unable to agree on anything at all, the people feel that it is not doing its job so they lose trust and confidence in them. B) Large donors, such as corporations, wealthy people, and PAC's, provide most of the money to campaigns. Since these groups/people contribute so much money, the candidates are much more likely to help them out, since they helped them get elected. The relationship between the candidate and the donors leads to corruption, which leads the people to lose trust and confidence in the government. C) Two consequences of the decline in trust and confidence in government include protest and decline in voting. Since people do not trust the government they speak out against it by means of protest. Protest is good in that it enables people to speak their minds but many times it leads to violence and it takes up a great deal of time. Another consequence is the decline in voting. Since people do not trust the government, they give up on voting because they feel that all of the candidates are the same.
