i always knew i wanted to work in healthcare, but i was introduced to the field when i was working as in home caretaker. i was responsible to take my grandpa to the doctors office, but it was actually a PA that was taking care of him. it was the one doctor visit that my grandpa didnt dread. -he showed kindness and compassion like no one else- this touched you -you idolized his ability to do so -and he told me of all the great opportunities that the PA profession had to offer. he eventually became my mentor and i shadowed hiim -while shadowing, i was able to witness the dynamic relationship he had with the physician. i really like the idea of having someone to assist you when needed, - he also told me about how he used to work in surgery but has changed to primary care. i feel like the flexibility that PAs have to switch specialties is very unique and a huge advantage because it allows you the freedom to switch and rreally allow you to work in a certain specialty long enough to find out which specialty is truly your best fit -and finally, the cost efficiency- financially indpendent and the amount of time spent in school. so through your shadowing and working as an ma alongside PAs, all the benefits of workign as a PA, i realized this prfession is most suitable for me. **HELP OTHERS **WORK IN A TEAM **CHANGE SPECIALTIES *style of education- medical model/general so u can specialize *cost effective, end: all of them r so happy with their jobs *now i am so happy to wake up and go to work! want to continue helping people! - because I want to be able to practice medicine with a high level of autonomy, but be able to work in a team and reference back to a supervising provider when needed. I enjoy working in a team, and PAs are trained in a team-model. -making healthcare more patient centered with team medicine, the importance of preventative services and increasing accessibility where it is needed like in medically underserved areas. -THEY PLAY A PIVOTAL ROLE IN HEALTHCARE --i also love the idea of being able to change specialties without having to go back to school. I have spoken and shadowed PA's who have nothing but great things to say about the field and they have worked in multiple fields as well. one of these PAs that i spoke to was actually the provider for two members in my family and i essentially want to give back. -I like that a PA is educated in the medical model, because I find that the science behind medicine is fascinating. -financially speaking, since i am supporting myself, it is also much more cost effective and allows me to practice medicine in the near future. and they have a growing demand -right now, I wake up every morning excited to go to work, to see my patients, to see my coworkers and my supervising physician, because i really love my team. but i know that i want to be a lot more hands on and I know that working as a PA will be so much more gratifying and i know that i want to continue this as a main healthcare provider as a PA. I efel like at the office that I am at now, the provider who owns the clinic has to be half of a business man which interferes with good medicine and i want to focus on just medicine! SUMMARY: -AUTONOMY BUT WORK IN TEAM -TEAMWORK/TEAM MODEL -MEDICAL MODEL-SCIENCE! *GROING DEMAND *COST EFFECTIVE *ALLOWS ME TO DO WHAT I LOVE TO DO WITHOUT PUTTING MEIN DEBT OR COMMITING SO MUCH TIME *ALLOWS ME TO SPECIALIZE **EVERY PA YOU HAVE TALKED TO IS SO HAPPY WITH THEIR LIVES, ABLE TO BALANCE FAMILY AND WORK. GET ALONG WITH THEIR PHYSICIANS. THEY HAVE WORKED IN SEVERAL SPECIALTIES AND LOVE IT! **IN MY OWN LIFE, MY FAMILY HAS BEEN TREATED BY PA'S AND BEING THAT MY FAMILY CAME FROM LOW INCOME, I WANT TO GIVE BACK *I DONT WANT TO WORRY ABOUT THE BUSINESS SIDE OF HEALTHCARE
